Highly irresponsibility journalism - Mark Thompson, Time

Mon Apr 07, 2008 at 09:00:04 PM PDT

Just clicked on Yahoo's front page and saw a news story originally from Time' website.

The article can be found here.

Here's how the article starts off:

Things in Iraq today are worse than they were a month ago, but they're far better than they were last September, when Ambassador Ryan Crocker and General David Petraeus last testified before Congress.

Pray tell Mr. Thompson, how do you define "better" and "worse?"  May seem preposterous to you, but I generally like objective measures.  Let's compare some of the numbers and compare last September to last month:

US Troop Deaths:  65 - - 38
Millions of Barrells of Oil Produced:  2.3 - - 2.42

Case closed, right Mr. Thompson?  Let's look at some other numbers, just in case we are missing something.

Iraqi Military/Police deaths:  96 - - 144
Bombing Deaths:  190 - - 278
Hours of Electricity per day:  11.8 - - 9.7

Mr. Thompson, exactly how does one just accept that things are soooo much better when there is plenty of evidence that it is not?  Why do we once again have to rely on McClatchey as you and your rag continues to tell the same sorts of lies that you told that lead us into this war?
